Benteng Karang Arung Mappala di Tanjung Ular
Pada tahun 1729, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I yang menguasai Kesultanan Palembang Darussalam (memerintah pada tahun 1724-1757 Masehi),
berselisih dengan saudaranya sendiri, Sultan Anom Alimuddin.
Rupanya perselisihan diantara dua orang Sultan ini tak kunjung reda.
Sultan Anom Alimuddin kemudian membangun basis kekuatan di Koba (Stockade Of Koba).
Sedangkan anaknya, Raden Klip membangun markas di Paku’ dengan tujuan untuk menguasai pusat-pusat penambangan timah yang ada dipesisir Barat Pulau Bangka (Horsfield, 1848:307)
Tak cukup sampai disitu, Sultan Anom Alimuddin meminta dukungan dari seorang Pangeran dari Bone, Arung Mappala.
Bersama 400 orang pasukan, Arung Mappala berangkat ke tanah Bangka melalui Banjarmasin.
Sesampai di Pulau Bangka, Beliau menyusun basis pertahanan dari gugusan karang yang berada disebuah tanjung sebelah barat Pulau Bangka, Tanjung Ular.
