EKSPEDISI SUNGAI BALLAR: Menelusuri Jejak Perjuangan Pengikut Setia Depati Amir di Selatan Bangka.
“Perang Amir” yang dimulai sejak tahun 1848 berakhir pada tahun 1851M, setelah Depati Amir ditangkap dan diasingkan ke Kupang.
Namun ternyata perlawanan rakyat Bangka tidak berhenti sampai disini.
Beberapa pengikut setia Depati Amir melarikan diri ke Selatan Bangka dan membangun basis persembunyian didaerah Penyampar, muara Sungai Ballar.
Mereka diterima sekaligus dilindungi oleh seorang Batin, penguasa daerah setempat, Batin Tikal.
Hal ini sejalan dengan surat yang ditulis oleh Van Herreveld seorang tentara Belanda berpangkat letnan satu, ajudan dari/sekaligus atas nama Komandan Tentara Ekspedisi Militer di Bangka yang dikirim dari Soengai Selan, bertanggal 25 Februari 1851 nomor La. A/35.
Surat ini melaporkan kepada Jenderal Ekspedisi Tentara Hindia Belanda tentang keadaan di Bangka berdasarkan pemeriksaan oleh Jaksa terhadap para pengikut Depati Amir yang tertangkap.
Data ini diperkuat dengan laporan dari administrator distrik koba dan hasil seorang spion dikampung Serdang bahwa selama hampir tiga bulan mereka (pengikut setia Depati Amir) dilindungi dan diberi makan oleh Batin Tikal. Mereka adalah Awang, Oemar, Boedjang Singkip beserta 40 orang pengikut lainnya. Mereka terus memberikan perlawanan terhadap pemerintah Hindia Belanda dan bersembunyi didaerah Penyampar, muara Sungai Ballar.
